Are you concerned about keeping the Downs a peaceful retreat for us all?
Lewes Labour campaigner Sam Hasan has been taking up residents complaints
about the increasing use of vehicles on the downs. Although most of the downs is protected against this, the potted nature of the ownership of land surrounding the old Lewes racecourse means various people do have access. Three issues were pursued by Labour Campaigners who contacted the South Downs Joint Consultative Board and the local M.P.
after local councillors failed to act.
Since then the travellers near the Neville estate have been evicted and landowners have been asked to check who has been using vehicles on their land to make sure they are authorised. If you see cars or motor cycles using the Downs contact the Lewes police non emergency number to report them .
