Are Lewes District Council serious about our environment?

Labour campaigner Jonathan Spencer was horrified to note that nearly £150,000 of our money had been spent by the Lib Dems on opposing the Falmer Stadium, even though a majority of Lewes residents supported it. Lets hope with Labour campaigning we can get some of this money back.
Why did the Lib Dems continue to waste time and money on this issue when we have more pressing environmental matters to contend with. Even the town council can only just manage to discuss plastic bags when all around us is a sea of litter, a build up of traffic and a parking scheme which is patently unfair.
Jonathan Spencer thinks we should have a postive vision for our local environment.
We need more and bigger litter bins and sweepers, especially after markets and events, why are the bins left at the weekend until they overflow. The roadside recycling has been excellent but it needs to be more comprehensive in all areas of Lewes. And like many people in Lewes Jonathan Spencer is asking when we are going to have an integrated vision for parking and traffic that benefits business and residents and improves trade and employment.

Perhaps they will offer some transparency on these matters? Matt has his own web site that [...]

There is no place like home

You may have heard the news that under this Tory-led Government, there has been a 17% increase in the number of families losing their homes. These aren’t just dry statistics – they are real families facing homelessness.  The Government must change course, stop cutting too far and too fast and come up with a Plan B for the economy – before more people lose their homes.
